Grand opening · July 2026

We cut the ribbon in downtown Lyons.

The Lyons Chamber of Commerce, our neighbors, and our own family gathered to celebrate the day Capps Family Tax officially opened its doors. Thank you to everyone who came to share it with us.

The same person, every year

The Capps family, at your service.

You deserve more than a tax preparer. You deserve a trusted partner who is here all year, not just during tax season.

Philip and Sherri Capps run this firm the way they were raised: know your neighbors, do the work right, and be there when it matters. When you call, you get us. Not a call center, not a different preparer every February. Us.

Our office is in Lyons, and our clients are all over: Sterling, Little River, Chase, every corner of Rice County, and plenty of folks farther out. If you are not in town, that is no problem at all.

Because we believe

Why families choose Capps.

The whole reason we do this, in a few plain sentences.

You should understand your taxes, not just sign where we point.

Your bookkeeping should not keep you awake at night.

Someone should answer your questions before they become problems.

Every business owner deserves a trusted advisor.

Relationships matter. That is the whole reason we do this.

You are not the only one

Sound familiar?

"I only hear from my tax person in April."

Most offices go quiet after the filing deadline, right when the IRS letters start showing up. We work year round, and the person who filed your return is the one who picks up the phone in July.

"I look at my books and I still don't know how the business is doing."

Clean numbers are not enough. You deserve someone who explains them in plain English until they make sense. That is the whole job.

"I'm behind, and honestly I'm embarrassed about it."

Bring us the shoebox. No judgment, we have seen far worse than yours. Catching people up is some of our favorite work, because that is the day the dread stops.

What we do

Want all of it for one flat monthly price? Most clients who use us for more than one thing pick a year round membership. One predictable payment, one person who already knows you, and no contract. Have a question first? Our FAQ answers the ones we hear most.

Plain prices

One flat monthly price. A person who already knows you.

Our memberships bundle year-round support into one predictable monthly price: $49, $149, or $300 a month depending on how much help you want. Month to month, no contract.

Every plan includes Gather & Grow, our monthly learning and networking session.

For farm families

We speak farm.

Wheat checks in June. Cattle sold in the fall. Equipment bought when the price is right, not when the calendar says so. Farm taxes have their own rhythm, and we know it: Schedule F, ag payroll, and the crop-year cash flow that city preparers never quite get. There are 433 farms in Rice County. We would be proud to keep the books for yours.

Ready when you are.

Book a time, call, or just text us. Tell us where things stand, even if the answer is "I am not sure." That is a fine place to start.
