Tax preparation
Tax preparation, done right, by the same person every year.
You will know the price before we start, not after the return is finished and you are already sitting across the desk. No surprise number at checkout. No new face every February. Just one person who learns your whole picture and keeps it, year after year.
Who we file for
Whatever your return looks like, we have done one like it.
- Individuals and families. W2s, 1099s, a house, some kids. The straightforward return, handled by a person, not a website with a stranger attached.
- Small businesses. Sole proprietors, single-member LLCs, and partnerships. One firm for your books and your taxes, so nothing gets lost between two people who never talk.
- S corps. Payroll, reasonable salary, the distributions, all of it. If nobody ever explained whether an S corp made sense for you, we will.
- Farms and ag operations. Schedule F, cash versus accrual, equipment depreciation, and the crop-year cash flow that city preparers never quite get. More on that on our farm page.
- Simple trusts and nonprofits. If you are the one holding the paperwork for the family trust or the local nonprofit, bring it in. We file those too, quoted up front like everything else.
Plain prices
You know the price before we start.
We quote you up front, in plain numbers, before any work begins. No advertised price that turns into a bigger one at the end. What moves the price is simple and we will tell you which of these applies to you:
- How many income streams you have (one job, or a job plus a farm plus a rental).
- Whether it is a personal return or a business return.
- Whether we are also cleaning up prior years.
That is it. No mystery, no clock running in the background, no bill that lands thirty percent over what you expected.
And every return we file includes audit protection plus a tax identity protection component, at no extra charge. It is part of the price we quote, not an add-on.
New to us? Bring your last year's tax return, and if you can, the invoice or the amount you paid to have it done. That is all we need to quote you a fair, plain number.
A second look
Bring us last year's return. That tells us what we need.
When you come to us, we do not just file this year and send you on your way. Bring your last year's return and we will go through it with you: what was filed, how it was handled, and whether anything looks off. Most people are a little nervous about that. That is normal, and it is exactly why we do it.
If something was missed, we will tell you plainly and help you make it right, without making you feel foolish. A missed deduction or a wrong election can quietly cost you far more than it costs to have someone look. Better to know.
Year-round
We are here in July, not just April.
Most offices go quiet the moment the filing deadline passes, right when the IRS letters start showing up in the summer. We do not. The person who filed your return is the same person who picks up the phone in July, in September, whenever you need us. You will never wonder who to call.
IRS letter help
Got a letter from the IRS? Breathe. Bring it in.
An IRS notice in the mailbox is one of the worst feelings there is, especially if you have no one to call. You have someone now. Bring the letter to us, or take a photo and text it. We will read it, tell you plainly what it means, and help you answer it.
Most of these letters are far less scary than they look, and a lot of them are simple to resolve once a person who knows your return takes a look.
Ready to have your taxes handled by a person who stays?
Book a time, call, or just text us. Tell us what your return looks like, even if it is a mess. That is what we are here for.
Or come by the office: 109 East Ave North, Lyons.
